2012 International Rally Sedalia, MO

This years 55th International Rally was held in Sedalia, MO.

The long trip was made by President George James III and First Lady Sally, Dan and Maxine McIntyre, Bill and Carolyn Rosendale, Hermann and Renate Preissler, Tim and Mary Ann Joslin, Nelson and Gloria Davis and Associate Members John and Joyce Plaxco.

Dan and Maxine and Bill and Carolyn arrived early to work with Rally preparations. Dan worked on handicap parking, Maxine on the awards committee and bulletin board committee. Bill worked also on the awards committee, and Carolyn was Awards Supervisor.

Tim, Mary Ann, Nelson, Gloria, Hermann and Renate made the trip together through all trials and tribulations. An inconvenient price hike made them change the campsite, Hermann lost the speedometer reading on the RV and then had a LP gas line break.

Sedalia was dry and hot. The forecast called for more around 100 + Temperatures. At the Fairground farmers were busy shearing sheep, collecting prizes for them and then auctioning them off. At registration Tim, Mary Ann, Nelson and Gloria were inducted to the club of  “First Timers”.

Congratulations to all the contest winners. Carolyn played in the duplicate Bridge (1) and (2) and placed second both times. Bill entered “Cinder” in the dog show and received for Obedience the yellow ribbon for third place. Renate again entered pictures in the Photo Print (plant) Category and placed third with a picture of a hydrangea.

And our WNC Unit Bulletin Board finally won a second place ribbon in the Theme Category.

All enjoyed the dinners, entertainment, seminars, meeting and making friend, but in the end everybody was glad to be back in (cool) NC.
