2014 Balloon Festival Joint Rally
The Balloon Festival Joint Rally was a Blast. 24 Units were camping at the Iredell County Fairground. The Porter’s (Piedmont Unit) cooked up a splendid chili with all the fixin’s and deserts on Thursday eve while a balloon floated by. On Friday some toured the area, visited wineries or checked out the balloon location at the airport. A southern home style dinner was served at Julia’s Talley House in Troutman, NC. Evenings were enjoyed while gathering around a camp fire. A shuttle took early risers to the airport to see the balloons launching. Unfavorable winds delayed other launches, however Saturday evening, some 50 or so balloons were inflated and lit up for a spectacular balloon glow.
Sunday morning breakfast was prepared by our unit and suddenly, balloons floated by and some even landed right next to the shelter. One balloonist got some help from our President George, IV. A few of them happily joint us then for breakfast.
