2013 Region 3 Rally Round the Rock
This year, the Region 3 Rally was held at Stone Mountain Park in Georgia. Springtime … and Azealias were in full bloom. Approx. 135 Airstream Members were in attendance. Dan and Maxine, Tim and Mary Anne, and George caravaned to Stone Mountain under the leadership of Nelson and Gloria. Bob and Amy, Hermann and Renate arrived independently.
In addition to great seminars, GAM’s and movie presentations, like “The long Trailer” with Lucille Ball, everyone enjoyed excursions of their own, the Atlanta Bus Tour (complete with stops at CNN, Coca Cola and the Olympic Park), the Southern Plantation Tour or a ride with the amphibious “Duck” boat. Dan enjoyed the chance in demonstrating his skills driving this unique vehicle.
The silent auction netted over $ 1,000.00 for the “Wounded Warrior” Project.
The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. And the steak dinner was outstanding. A special thank you to the dessert crew and their knowledge of the science in “dutch oven” cooking.
The Saturday night laser show at the Stone Mountain Park, complete with unlimited beverages and popcorn was a treat. Luckily, the rain held up enough to get back to the camp without getting soaked.
The trip back home was a very wet experience for everyone. Dan and Maxine, Tim and Mary Anne, Nelson and Gloria took up again the opportunity to caravan together to Waynesville, NC.
